The Biz Moms™ Lab gives you protected time to step out of the daily rush, think clearly and move one meaningful business priority forward — with practical guidance, focused working time and other moms moving forward beside you.

You do not need to be in technology, know how to code or already call yourself a founder. Your business may be a service, trade, physical product, local business, online offer or technology solution.
Whether you are exploring a possible direction, developing an existing idea or running a small business that needs greater clarity and momentum, you will work from where you are and take practical steps toward what comes next.

This program is for you if you are a mom who
- wants to explore how her experience, skills or interests could become a realistic business;
- has a business idea but needs clarity, structure and support to begin;
- has already started a business but feels stuck or struggles to maintain momentum;
- needs help with a specific area, such as her offer, customers, pricing, marketing, visibility or sales;
- wants protected time to think, make decisions and complete practical business work;
- is ready to focus on one meaningful business priority for six weeks.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you join. You will follow the same practical framework while working toward an outcome that reflects your current business stage:
Explore — choose and shape a realistic business direction.Build — turn an existing idea into an offer and begin testing it.Grow — address a specific challenge and strengthen an existing business.
By the end of six weeks, you will have:
- One clear business priority that you have actively moved forward
- A stronger offer, message and pricing direction
- A focused marketing, visibility and customer outreach plan
- Real feedback from customers, clients or relevant contacts
- A confident 3-minute business presentation and valuable new connections
- A realistic 90-day action plan to keep moving forward

Program schedule
In Person on Tuesdays (October 20 - November 24, 2026)
- 9:30 am - 10:00 am - Arrival, child transition (if childminding needed) and informal connection
- 10:00 am - 10:30 am - Guided Biz Moms™ business development session
- 10:30 am - 12:00 pm - Focused implementation time and individual support
- 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm - Optional access to entrepreneurship programming and ecosystem connections
- 1: 15 pm - 1:30 pm - Reflection, progress check and next-step planning
After 1:30 pm - you may continue working independently at an available desk at Manitoba Innovates. The guided program and childminding end at 1:30 p.m.
Online on Fridays (October 23 - November 20, 2026)
12:00 - 12:30 pm - this 30-minute online check-in will help you maintain momentum by reviewing what you accomplished, what you learned and what you will do next. You will also stay connected with the group through a private online chat throughout the week.
6-week program
6 weeks · in person + online check-ins & ongoing support in a chat
Six weeks of guided learning, focused implementation, online accountability and ongoing support through a private group chat. This is not a program where you simply listen and take notes. Each week, you will apply the topic to your own stage, work on your business and complete practical actions with guidance and support.
Week 01 - October 20
Create space and choose your priority
Step out of the daily rush, create space in your schedule and choose one business priority to move forward. This may be a promising new direction or the main challenge keeping your existing business stuck.
You will leave with: one focused six-week goal and a realistic action plan.
Week 02 - October 27
Understand your customer and clarify your direction
Clarify whom you want to serve, what they need and why your idea or business matters to them. Explore what is already working and where your direction or message may need greater clarity.
You will leave with: a clearer customer profile, business direction and positioning statement
Week 03 - November 03
Strengthen your idea, offer and pricing
Turn your direction into something customers can understand and potentially buy. Develop a first offer or improve an existing one, including its format, value, message and pricing direction.
You will leave with: a clearer offer and message that you are ready to discuss with potential or existing customers.
Week 04 - November 10
Reach your market and become more visible
Choose practical ways to reach the right people. Depending on your business, this may include direct outreach, referrals, partnerships, networking, social media, local promotion or online marketing.
You will leave with: a focused customer outreach and visibility plan, with practical actions already underway.
Week 05 - November 17
Test, learn and improve
Review what you learned from customer conversations, outreach, existing clients or initial market activity. Use this feedback to refine your direction, offer, message, pricing or marketing approach.
You will leave with: evidence-based improvements, useful connections and a draft of your final presentation.
Week 06 - November 24
Share your progress and plan what comes next
Bring together what you explored, created, tested and learned. Prepare and deliver a concise 3-minute presentation and identify your priorities for the next 90 days.
You will leave with: a stronger business presentation, a practical 90-day action plan and clear next steps.
Final Business Momentum Showcase: November 24
Share your business progress, next priorities and one request for support with invited business and industry guests. Become more visible, communicate your work clearly and build valuable connections.
*Note: The program may be adjusted slightly to reflect participants’ needs, while the core framework and intended outcomes will remain as outlined above.
Childminding*
Your child can be close while you create space for your business.
If enough families express interest, optional on-site childminding may be arranged in a nearby room, where children can play while their moms participate in the program. Childminding is available for children aged 3+ who are fully potty trained. It is not included in the program fee and is subject to availability and final confirmation.
We want to make this program more accessible to moms. Even when your usual childcare is unavailable, you may still have the opportunity to come, focus and move your business idea forward.

If life happens
If you or your child are unwell, you may join the guided portion online and stay connected through Friday's check-in. The program fee is not refundable or prorated for missed sessions. Childminding is arranged and paid for separately, subject to confirmation and the provider’s terms.
